My Adventures into the Coral-y/Orange-y Family

I really wanted to like it. I really wanted them to like me, but alas it didn't seem to work out too well. I first tried China Glaze's Peachy Keen and then Essie's Haute as Hello. Maybe it was more me, and less them. They were too vibrant for me. And Haute as Hello made my skin tone feel like it looked a little dusty, which is NOT a good thing. So I think that I'm going to stop trying to find an orange-y/coral-y color and just stick to my fav pastel pinks, blues and lilacs. Because my problem is that I become obsessed. I'll become so obsessed with finding the perfect orange/coral color that I'll soon have over 20 polishes in that family. And I do NOT need any more nail polish.

First Attempt at Water Marbeling = a MESS!

I'm usually pretty tame when it comes to nail designs/art. Actually I'm downright boring because I typically like just a plain creme finish with no type of decoration. But lately I've been a LITTLE adventurous in an accent nail. I decided that I would just water marble my ring fingers. It was a spur of the moment decision. I didn't really have any of the necessary tools in order to do so. I think the most important tool would be to have small dixie cups. We don't have disposable cups around the house, but I did happen to find a 16 oz plastic cup which was the number factor to my huge mess!

I didn't want to waste 16oz of water just for water marbling, so I only filled the cup a quarter of the way. Because I had to dunk my whole hand into the cup just to get my ring finger in, I didn't have any room to maneuver around to collect the old polish at the surface of the water. So when I pulled my finger up, I ended up pulling all the the polish up attached to my nail. A HUGE glob of nail polish was sitting on my finger, like a small tumor.

And then I kept messing up the rest of my mani by touching the polish in the cup. Next time if all I'm going to water marble are my ring fingers, I should leave the rest of my nails unpainted until I finish water marbling. Because now I have to redo most of my mani.

This first attempt at water marbling was a MESS!

NOTD - Revlon's Top Speed in Lily

I'm a sucker for lilac nail polish and I HAD to get Revlon's Top Speed in Lily because it's lilac, it was on sale and my dog's name is Lily! It's a really pretty color, but I'm not really a fan of the formula. It covered really well in just 2 coats, so they get an A+ in opacity, but it was hard to apply. I think I've just been spoiled with OPI & Zoya that this polish definitely feels like a discount store type polish.

I Spent $20 at the Post Office!!!

Swapping on MUA was supposed to be about "getting rid" of polishes that I don't use in exchange for colors that aren't available to me. But this "getting rid" of polishes has quickly become expensive! I have spent more money than I would care to have on packing materials. I found myself beginning to buy stuff just to add extras into my swap packages. And I would buy nail polishes that I knew I didn't want or buying doubles of polishes just to have a good "stock" of things in my swap list. I was spending money just to "get rid" of polish!

This has begun to become ridiculous. I am therefore putting myself on punishment and restricted myself from this expensive habit of swapping. Yes, that's right I have grounded myself from swapping. *smh @ self*

NOTD - Zoya's Miley

This is my very first blog'd NOTD. I've pretty much kept my nails painted all the time for at least a year, but rarely take pics of it. But I figured if I'm really going to blog about finger jewels, I should at least show everyone which jewel I'm currently wearing.

This nail polish is about 4 days old, which is just a testament to the awesomeness of Seche Vite top coat. I love it!

I really like Miley, except that it's a little thin. The first coat went on almost like a top coat with almost no color at all. This was about 3-4 coats to achieve opacity.

I definitely have a problem

I bought 9 nail polishes today. I definitely did not need to add 9 more bottles to my already large inventory. But that's what I did. I foresee tomorrow being a day filled with returning said bottles. lol

I like nail polish because...

It's like having jewels on the ends of your fingers. No matter what I'm doing, I can look down at my hands and bright sparkly colors are shiny back at me. It's an instant mood brightener! :)

We'll See How Long This Lasts

I've started a few blogs over the years, but none of them have "stuck". I'm not even sure if I've got the personality to do a nail polish blog. But I thought of a url and didn't want anyone else to take it, so here I am.

I say that I may not have the personality to do a nail polish blog, because I'm not really one to take pictures and nail polish blogs are all about pictures. But sometimes I want to say stuff and have no one to relate to me. Maybe with this blog I'll be able to find fellow nail polish fanatics that aren't fans of crackle/shatter, holo's and glitter.
